Dom Rudd

South African by birth, Dom has had four wonderfully rich and varied careers, in the Royal Marines, in business, as director of operations at the RSPCA then Chief Executive of Samaritans, and now following his passion leading treks and expeditions overseas. 

Dom has a reputation for really taking care of his groups. His knowledge of the mountains, his calm and compassionate disposition and over 24 years’ experience in the outdoors helps ensure that challenges are met and personal goals are achieved whilst having fun. 

Dom’s travels have taken him to Norway, where he spent four winters in the arctic with the Marines, and more recently to Nepal, where he has led groups on Mera Peak ExpeditionDhaulagiri Circuit, to Annapurna Sanctuary and twice to Everest Base Camp. He has summited Kilimanjaro eight times and has trekked and mountaineered in Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, China, New Zealand, Uganda, Madagascar, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia.  He has mountaineered and ice climbed in the French and Swiss Alps and rock climbed in Spain, France and the UK. 

He is an International Mountain Leader (UIMLA) and when not overseas, Dom lives in West Sussex and is an outdoor instructor, a management and leadership developer and a happy grandfather to Zara and John.  Dom is a volunteer mentor with A Band of Brothers, a charity helping young men to turn their lives around.
