Our guide (Buddhi) was a great guy, very friendly (as were all the Nepalese!), knowledgeable and amended the trek to match our abilities.

Why The Mountain Company?

The Mountain Company team has unrivalled specialist knowledge of the Himalaya and Karakoram.

Personal Service

Your contact for any questions before or after you book will be Roland Hunter. We encourage anyone who is interested in joining one of our trips to get in contact to discuss their requirements. Roland spends five months a year living in Nepal, this means we can assist and support you during your holiday.

Group leaders

The Mountain Company use Western and local leaders for our trips whose responsibilities are to ensure you have an enjoyable, safe and interesting experience. Where possible we like to use local leaders so that they can share their knowledge of the area visited whereas we use Western leaders for our more remote and logistically challenging treks.

Safety and security

Safety and security of guests and trek staff is our top priority. This begins at the planning stage from designing a well thought out itinerary which allows for the necessary time for acclimatisation to the increase in altitude. All our guides are well trained and highly experienced in leading groups in the Himalayas.

We send a Thuraya satellite phone on all of our treks in Nepal, Pakistan and Bhutan. For more information about satellite phones and why these are required please read our blog post "The Mountain Company sends a Thuraya satellite phone on all of our treks in Nepal, Pakistan and Bhutan"

We obtain professional weather forecasts from everestweather.com throughout the trekking seasons in Nepal, Bhutan, India and Pakistan

For further information on safety and security please see risk assessments and our implementation of British Standard BS8848

Good value

All of our treks are good value for money. We provide an excellent service at competitive prices and do not compromise on the quality of any aspect of the trip. We always ensure that our local staff are paid a fair wage.

Responsible and Sustainable Tourism

We are dedicated to responsible and sustainable tourism with the aim that future travellers will see the destinations in a similar or better state than we have been able to. Low volume and low impact travelling is one of the most effective ways of preserving the fragile areas we visit. We have developed our own comprehensive Responsible Tourism Policy.

International Clients

The Mountain Company is based in London, UK although we usually find that our groups are international with people coming from different countries of the world. Everyone is welcome. Our trips are priced in both Pounds Sterling, Euro and US Dollar.
