Steve Stout

Steve Stout has worked as a freelance mountain instructor and leader for many groups in UK and overseas. Steve has spent two years in Antarctica working for British Antartic Survey (BAS) where his role included guiding scientists & base staff across many areas of the mainland & islands along the Peninsula, including around the Elsworth Mountains.

Over the last 15 years Steve has worked in many different countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Morocco, Ethiopia,Uganda, Namibia, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Oman, UAE, Nepal, India and in Europe.  He has summited multiple peaks at both technical & trekking peak level, including in Antarctica (Mount Gwendolyn, Snow Ditte, N2 & Trident); in Uganda (Mt Stanley & Baker), in Nepal (Mera Peak, Ramdung, Yalung Ri, and Parchamo) and in Ecuador (Sangay and Cotopaxi).

Steve has also taught mountain skills for UK mountain qualifications to degree level students with the Universities of Lancashire & Cumbria and also lectures on Extreme Environments.

He is a qualified International Mountain Leader plus Winter Mountain Leader and has his Mountain Instructor Award. He is also a Summer Mountain Leader Health and Safety Advisor; Single Pitch Award Manual HandlingTrainer; Trail Cycle Leader Advanced Motorcycle Instructor and P.A.D.I. Divemaster.
